What makes relationships tick? We explore whata drives us apart and keeps us together in love and romance.
We consider flings, flirtations, infatuation, desire, betrayal and (re)commitment in this concert. For a while, my working title for this programme was Sarcastic Love as I didn't want to do a hearts and flowers love-themed concert, but one that eplored the complexities of romantic and intimaate relationships between adults who have lived, loved and lost and maybe found again. I settled on Morten Lauridsen's Chansons des Roses and Stephen Sondheim's Company as the main works for this concert, and we will sing three songs from that work: The little things you do together; Ladies who lunch; and Being Alive. As well as reading on the theme of the concert, we will also sing Cyndi Lauper Time after Time; John Dowland Can she excuse my wrongs; Astor Piazzolla Libertango and Oblivion; before ending with Billy Joel, arr Bob Chilcott And so it goes |
