Type of event: Performance Start time: 7:30pm Venue: 564 Woodham Lane, Woking, Surrey GU21 5SH Description:
We offer this concert as light and support to anyone who knows the isolation of poor mental health. We hope you find this music a gift.
This concert is on the theme of mental health, both suffering and resilience. The words and music portray the isolation and fear of mental illness, and suggests how to find repair and recovery through human reconnection. We will sing Craig Hella Johson's arrangement of Motherless child; Gusualdo di Venosa O vos omnes; Johannes Brahms Geistliches Lied; Benjamin Britten Rejoice in the Lamb; Joanne Metcalf Emerald Sleep; Lady Maisery The Changelings Lullaby: Danny Whitten I don't want to talk about it; Toby Young I carry your heart; J.S. Bach O Jesu Christ mein Lebens Licht (BVW118); Kate Rusby, arr. Jim Clements Underneath the Stars; Ben Pooniah O Lord support us and Eriks Esenvalds Amazing Grace. In a concert of lovely music, this last piece is perhaps the most lovely.
We will be holding a retiring collection for Papyrus; a charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people. https://www.papyrus-uk.org
