This concert celebrates the natural world. We sing of darkness and light, creation stories, living things on earth and the wider celestial world, which also prompts us to think about our own place in the world and our life span. Female composers are front and centre with Katy Cooper’s From the Darkness; Jacob Collier’s Little Blue arranged by Catherine Barker, Cecilia McDowall’s Music of the Stars; sacred music from Britney Boykin and Debbie Wiseman. And the very best version of Waltzing Matilda you will ever hear from Ruth McCall. We will also sing music by Saint-Saëns and Palestrina, and the beautiful opening chorus and choral from J.S. Bach’s Liebster Gott, wenn werd ich sterben? BVW 8 which marks the passing of time in human life.
