Associate Music Director, Mosaic Chamber Choir, Woking

The Role

Mosaic Chamber Choir, Woking, is currently seeking an associate music director. This is a new role for autumn 2016, established to support the choir and our existing music director and accompanist.

The associate music director will be required to direct rehearsals and, at the discretion of the music director, to conduct pieces at concerts. The ability to direct rehearsal from the piano if required would be beneficial. The successful candidate will benefit from the guidance of our existing music director, and the experience of directing an established chamber choir that performs to a high standard. This makes the role ideal for someone studying conducting and/or looking to build their practical experience as a conductor.

Although the position is not salaried, the associate music director would receive concert fees as well as travel expenses for rehearsals and concerts.

Mosaic Chamber Choir (

Mosaic was founded in 2003 and has become a well established chamber choir of around 25 voices, with a diverse repertoire and a wealth of combined choral experience. Recent repertoire includes everything from Allegri’s Miserere and Fauré and Duruflé’s Requiems to medleys from musicals such as Phantom and Shrek!

We are an enthusiastic group of singers, striking a balance between fun and performing to a high level, and continue to go from strength to strength with the help and guidance of our music director, Ben Gaughran and accompanist, Anthony Merryweather.

Mosaic puts on 3 or 4 concerts each year, as well as singing for the occasional wedding or choral competition. Recent appearances include the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London, in venues such as St Paul’s Covent Garden, St Clement Danes and St Martin-in-the-Fields, the National Choir of the Year Competition and concerts in Vilnius and Kaunas, Lithuania, as part of a short tour.
